SERRA GRANDE

South of the Tijuipe river, long beautiful beaches extend for many kilometers: the beaches of Serra Grande. Located about half way between Ilhéus and Itacaré.

Serra Grande is made up of many beaches; With fine sand, transparent waters and warm currents the 3 mile long Sargi beach has the most infrastructure; hotels, pousadas, bars and restaurants. The Pé de Serra beach, on the other hand, is a good place to watch the arrival of jangadas (traditional sailing rafts). Access to the beaches of Pompilho, and Prainha is restricted, but these deserted beaches are simply wonderful!

Building a Carbon Free Destination
In Itacaré and Serra Grande, look for the «Carbon Free Tourism Certification Program» seal exposed in hotels, restaurants and other services. The funds gathered through the program are redirected to traditional small-scale farmers to plant trees which will neutralize CO² emissions of the program contributors.
